Garbage Disposal Repair & Installation
Jammed, leaking, or dead disposal. We repair or replace same-day.
When the Disposal Stops Working.
It's making that grinding noise. Or it just stopped working entirely. You flip the switch and nothing happens. Maybe water is backing up into the sink because nothing is draining past the dead unit sitting in the bottom of your drain. Most people think garbage disposals last forever. They don't. Average lifespan is 8 to 12 years, and they degrade gradually. The blades dull. The motor weakens. The seals dry out. One day it jams for the last time and no amount of Allen wrench turning brings it back. Cole's Plumbing repairs and replaces garbage disposals all over the DFW metroplex. If yours can be fixed, we fix it. If it needs replacing, we carry InSinkErator units on our trucks and can swap it out in about an hour. No second trips, no waiting for parts.

Time to Call
Any of these sound familiar? Call us. Small problems don’t stay small.
- Disposal hums but doesn't spin
- Grinding noise that's louder or different than usual
- Water leaking from the bottom of the unit
- Frequent jams that won't clear with the reset button
- Bad smell that doesn't go away even after cleaning
- Disposal doesn't turn on at all

How It Works
Quick diagnosis, quick fix. That's the goal.
Check the easy stuff first
Sometimes it's just a tripped reset button or a stuck flywheel. We check the electrical connection, clear any jams, and test the motor. The service call covers this diagnosis. If a simple reset fixes it, you just pay the service call.
Repair or replace
If the motor is burnt out, the unit is leaking from the bottom, or it's over 10 years old and struggling, replacement is the move. We carry 1/2 HP and 3/4 HP InSinkErator models. For a household that uses the disposal daily, we recommend the 3/4 HP.
Installed and tested
A disposal replacement takes 45 minutes to an hour. We connect the new unit, test it with water running, check for leaks at every connection, and verify the dishwasher drain connection if applicable.
Why Cole's
InSinkErator Standard
We install InSinkErator disposals because they last longer and have better warranties than store brands. We've tried them all over 25 years. InSinkErator wins.
Proper Mounting
A disposal that vibrates loose is a disposal that leaks. We use the full mounting assembly with proper tightening. No shortcuts, no duct tape, no zip ties.
Dishwasher Connection Check
We verify the dishwasher drain hose connection and air gap. A faulty connection here causes dishwasher water to back up into the sink. We check it every time.
200+ Five-Star Reviews.
Chad came out the same day we called. He looked at our water heater, told us exactly what was wrong, gave us a price, and got it done that afternoon. No surprises on the bill. We've used other plumbers in the area and this was by far the best experience.
The last plumber we called tried to sell us a whole new system when all we needed was a valve replacement. Chad was honest about what the actual problem was and fixed it for a fraction of what the other company quoted. That's rare.
We had a slab leak and were panicking. Chad walked us through the whole process, explained what he was doing at every step, and his price was fair. He even followed up the next week to make sure everything was holding. This is the only plumber we'll call from now on.
Straight Answers.
Not necessarily. Something is probably jammed between the flywheel and the grinding ring. Turn off the power, use an Allen wrench in the bottom hole to free the flywheel, then press the reset button. If it still hums after clearing the jam, the motor is burnt out and you need a replacement.
We quote every disposal installation before starting. Price depends on the horsepower you need and what's involved with the installation. We recommend 3/4 HP for most households. All prices include the unit, mounting hardware, installation labor, and connection to existing plumbing.
1/2 HP works for a couple or light use. 3/4 HP is right for a family of 3 to 5 who cooks regularly. 1 HP is for heavy use or large families. Bigger isn't always necessary, but going too small means more jams and a shorter lifespan.
Yes, if it's not grinding food finely enough. A dull or underpowered disposal pushes chunks into the drain that can build up in the P-trap or further down the line. That's why we recommend adequate horsepower and running plenty of cold water while the disposal operates.
45 minutes to an hour for a straightforward swap. If the mounting flange needs replacement or the drain plumbing needs adjustment, up to 90 minutes. Either way, it's a single-visit job.
